Irene Briant - A Survey

This large survey exhibition presented a range of over 50 works covering nearly 40 years of Tasmanian artist Irene Briant's career.

My role? As Curator, I initiated the project, wrote and acquitted the grants, worked with Irene to select the works for exhibition and managed the exhibition timeline, development and installation.

I also edited the catalogue, and worked with  Raum Studio and Monotone Art Printers to produce a gorgeous publication, as well as writing the main essay.  The exhibition was initiated while I was Creative Producer at Salamanca Arts Centre and continued as an independent curator after Nov 17.

Copies of the exhibition catalogue are available directly from this website for purchase at $10 each (plus p&h). 68pp including essays by Frances Butler (curator), Sylvia Kleinert and notes by Irene Briant, images of all works exhibited, and artist's chronology.

Irene Briant - A Survey - was generously supported by the Minister for the Arts through Arts Tasmania, the Gordon Darling Foundation, Salamanca Arts Centre and the Bett Gallery.
